Strengthening Culture, Connection and Learning: Education Days 2026
From Monday 4 May to Friday 8 May 2026, students came together for an inspiring week of connection, cultural learning and shared experience during Education Days. Proudly supported by Mitsubishi Corporation, the event created a safe and supportive environment where students could strengthen their sense of belonging, build relationships and deepen their cultural knowledge.
A Strong Start Each Day
Each day began with a Welcome to Country delivered by Jayden Boundry and Dylan Shillito from Mirliny, followed by the event introduction, setting a respectful and inclusive tone. These moments grounded the week in culture and community, creating a space where students felt safe, valued and ready to engage.
Hands On Cultural and Creative Experiences
Throughout the week, students took part in hands on sessions designed to celebrate culture, encourage self expression and build connection. These included:
- Weaving workshops, delivered by Lea Taylor Art Creative Culture, strengthening connection to culture and peers
- Mirliny sessions, delivered by Jayden Boundry and Dylan Shillito, supporting storytelling, identity and cultural voice
- Collaborative art projects, fostering teamwork, shared pride and a sense of belonging
By rotating through each session, students not only learned new skills but also built confidence in sharing ideas, working together and expressing their identity.
Wellbeing and Support
A key focus of the event was creating a safe environment that supported student wellbeing.
Students participated in sessions with Zonta House, who led important discussions around healthy relationships, helping students build understanding of respect, boundaries and positive connections.
The Earbus Foundation attended to provide hearing health checks, ensuring students had access to essential support and helping to remove barriers that may impact their learning and wellbeing.
Connecting Our Cohort
At the heart of Education Days was the opportunity to bring students together. The event provided a space for students across year levels and regions to connect, strengthen relationships and feel part of a wider community.
Junior Students
Junior students developed confidence through creative and collaborative activities, forming new friendships and strengthening their sense of belonging in a supportive environment.
Junior students participated in a session delivered by Derbarl Yerrigan, focused on vaping and its health impacts, supporting informed decision making and awareness.
Across all sessions, students were given space to connect with one another, share experiences and build relationships that extend beyond the classroom.
Senior Students
Senior students engaged in financial literacy sessions delivered by the First Nations Foundation, alongside cultural and group activities that encouraged connection, shared learning and peer support.
Sessions delivered by the Family History Research Service provided students with the opportunity to explore their history and deepen their connection to culture and identity.
A Well-Coordinated Effort
The success of Education Days 2026 was made possible through the strong collaboration between our partners, schools and facilitators who helped deliver a safe, inclusive and meaningful event for all students.
