Kamsani Bin Salleh

Kamsani Bin Salleh is descended from the Nimunburr, Bunuba and Yawuru peoples of the Kimberley and the Ballardong Noongar people of the Perth region in WA.

Kam was supported by MADALAH with a secondary scholarship to attend Scotch College. MADALAH continued supporting Kam when he graduated school to complete his tertiary studies at the University of Western Australia – Bachelor of Communication and Media Studies.

Since graduating from university, Kam has become a professional artist. His artwork illustrates and reflects the natural world through intricate designs, and he uses his Indigenous artwork as a platform to share knowledge and educate others about culture. Kam’s art is a way to express himself and bring stories of his people alive; telling stories of his descendants and highlighting the richness of Aboriginal culture and connection to land.

Kam also contributes to his community, working with the ICEA foundation to share his art in schools, and running numerous school art programs across Perth. He was also the 2018 Festival Director of the Kambarang Festival where he curated an event to provide everyone with a meaningful experience with Noongar Culture. In 2018 he also designed and donated his artwork to the MADALAH Ball to help raise much-needed funds for more Indigenous scholarships.

In 2018, Kam was awarded Western Australian Young Person of the Year for his contribution to the community.

"I am incredibly grateful for all of the help and commitment MADALAH gave towards putting me through schooling away from home. I wouldn't have had these great opportunities to secure a future life after school without MADALAH! " Jordee Simmons
